Power, Politics, & Art
From patronage to propaganda, power, politics, and art have been intertwined. My dream is to research the historical and ongoing connection between art & politics by traveling to Berlin, Venice, and Istanbul. Thanks to the Maggie L. Walker Governor's School Foundation's Taylor Teaching Award, I have the opportunity to fulfill this dream.
In keeping our school’s focus on international studies and government, my essential question is “What was the political role of art in the past and in our current globalized society?” Read more about my research here.
This experience will help me support the both the international mission of our school by giving me a much deeper and personal understanding of the art and architecture of these three historic cultures, but also the cultural connection with government and politics.
